In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Grand Rapids; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Michigan are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 amβ10 pm. Note that it does not open on Tuesday. Grand Rapids is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Grand Rapids follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The egg rolls literally taste like sauerkraut.... Absolutely nothing inside except cabbage. Crab Rangoon had no crab at all, it was deep fried cream cheese. Sweet and sour chicken was only chicken (no veggies or onions). The sweet and sour sauce had so much red dye it stained my hands. I will not return and do not recommend. ιζ―ζειηζη³η³ηδΈι€γ

For $49 I could couldnβt need a family of 3 smallest portion of rice for $9 smallest meat proportion for $15 and then I didnβt get my white and got treated like I was lying about not getting my rice. I ordered fried rice got BOILED also ordered egg drop soup and got no egg drop just soup i totally feel like I got ripped off I will never come here again the daughter that worked there was my highlight. And the father that work there you need to fix your attitude because every black person isnβt t trying to get over we actually want what we paid for and to get treat like normal people! And the quality is mediocre at best !!!!

I love Grand Lakes! Order from here often but there is absolutely NO WAY the ppl or person who normally prepares the food prepared it today. My Lo Mein had no flavor and was dry. The Rice had a funny taste and my Egg Foo Young patties were just ok. So disappointed. I was so looking forward to this meal. π

I love the General βTis Chicken and rice. Itβs absolutely delicious! I love that they will make it more crispy if you ask. The service is wonderful and the owners are very kind. I am so happy I found this place there are not a lot of good Chinese spots left in GR. This is the best one I have found by far. I am excited to try some of their other dishes. MIE Fun is one of my favorites and I been really wanting to try it from here as well but the General TOS is so delicious I keep ordering that.π
